Dell Opens its First Asia-Pacific Cloud Data Center in Shanghai

July 7, 2011 — Technology giant Dell announced Wednesday it opened a data center in Shanghai in support of its cloud initiative, which it revealed earlier this year, according to a blog post on the company’s website. Marking the first of its kind for Dell in the Asia-Pacific and Japan regions, the data center will host public and private clouds and provide customers with off-premise application and storage services. Web Host pair Networks Breaks Ground on Green Las Vegas Data Center

July 7, 2011 — Web hosting provider pair Networks recently announced that it has broken ground on its green data center in Las Vegas. According to the press release, the facility is set to open in early 2012 and will be the only LEED Platinum Certified data center in Nevada. pair Networks says that in addition to serving a wider customer base, the new facility will provide “a handful of jobs and could double or triple over the years as the company continues to grow.” Read More

Colocation Firm Interxion Powers Swiss Data Center with Renewable Energy

July 6, 2011 — European data center operator Interxion Holding announced on Tuesday that its Interxion Switzerland data center is being powered by 100 percent green energy. Since the beginning of January, local energy provider Energie Opfikon AG has supplied the data center with its Aquastrom hydroelectricity product, which uses naturally flowing water instead of storage plants. July 6, 2011 — Web hosting provider ViaWest announced on Wednesday it will hold its grand opening of its new data center, Synergy Park, located in Richardson, Texas on July 19th through 20th. Data Center Firm Horizon Certified to Provide Cloud Services to US Government

July 6, 2011 — Data center operator Horizon Data Center Solutions announced on Tuesday that it has received the “Authority to Operate” as a cloud computing provider to the federal government. The government has made a commitment to move its services to the cloud as part of its Cloud First policy.
