In late August, the WHIR went back to California to put on a second WHIR Networking event in the area for this year. Last WHIR Event was in Los Angeles, back in January of 2012. This time we went to San Jose, where we met up with a good showing from the local hosting community there.
It was a great event, thanks in large part to a strong turn-out, and it took place at a cool little nightclub spot called Fahrenheit Lounge. Our sponsors gave away some great prizes, and more importantly, lots of great business connections were made amid some good food and drinks.
At the event, I had a chance to talk to each of our sponsors about some of the issues they’re currently facing in their businesses, and include them in the video of the Networking event. Paul Finley of Litle & Co discusses how analyzing transaction data can add value to a payment processing service. Bob Pacheco talks about what hosting providers look for in a partnership with Open-Xchange. Shawn Marck of Black Lotus and Frank Li of NSFOCUS discuss the new partnership between the two DDoS mitigation services. Jonathan Gilbert of e-onlinedata discusses the company’s new fast application system for setting up new merchant accounts. And James Raquepau of Parallels discusses the company’s excitement around the recently launched Plesk 11hosting control panel product.
Our next WHIR Networking event is taking place September 20, 2012 in Scottsdale, Arizona. If you’re in the neighborhood, or you know anyone who is, make sure to come out to what is looking to be another great event.
Bonus: stay tuned at the end for a little added footage of me being an idiot!
