November 20, 2001 -- (WEB HOST INDUSTRY REVIEW) -- Zeus Technology Limited (zeus.com), a provider of Web server software and solutions, announced that its customers will now be able
to evaluate the Zeus Secure Web Serving Solution.
The Secure Web Serving Solution is designed to sit in front of Microsoft's
IIS Web server, identifying and discarding incoming attempts to exploit
vulnerabilities in customers' IIS servers or other internal infrastructure
without the need for wholesale platform migration. Based on the Zeus Web
Server, the solution demonstrates many of the anti-denial-of-service
features that will be released in the next major release of the Zeus Web
Server.
These features include parsing incoming requests and blocking discreet URLs
described by a set of rules. The rule set can be modified or updated
dynamically, so that modifying the rules in anticipation of a new attack
requires no downtime, or even a server restart.
As part of the development of anti-denial-of-service technology, the Zeus
Secure Web Serving Solution allows customers to build an "HTTP Firewall"; a
gatekeeper that protects existing infrastructure from attacks from the
Internet.
"The Zeus Secure Web Serving Solution will enable organisations that have
been plagued by Code-Red and Nimda to quickly secure their infrastructure
against these attacks whilst maintaining their investment in Microsoft
technology," said Zeus CEO John Paterson.
The Zeus Secure Web Serving Solution will initially be available to
customers who wish to evaluate or deploy the solution as part of a preview
programme. Full availability is expected in Q1, 2002.
