February 4, 2003 — (WEB HOST INDUSTRY REVIEW) — Intelligent data center developer ZooLink Corporation (ZooLink.com) announced on Monday that it has acquired a data center located in Vancouver, British Columbia, making it the company’s second data center.

ZooLink says it acquired the multi-million dollar facility, located in Vancouver’s downtown core, from PSINet. The data center is equipped with environmental control systems, independent power backup and generation, network laser monitored fire and gas detection systems, seismically braced flooring and steel racks for customer equipment storage. Its security system includes biometric readers, motion sensors and digital video surveillance.

According to ZooLink, the company acquired the second facility as part of its strategy to grow through acquisition without investing large amounts of capital. The company acquired its first data center, located in Calgary, Alberta, in May of 2002.

“We are executing our acquisition strategy and meeting our goals in the time frame we have set,” says ZooLink president and CEO Ali Shawkat. “We will continue to expand aggressively into the Co-location marketplace while providing a growing suite of managed services to our customers, concurrent with the implementation of our new business model.”
