June 12, 2008 — (WEB HOST INDUSTRY REVIEW) — Application technology provider Zeus Technology (zeus.com) announced on Thursday it has selected hardware from Sun Microsystems (sun.com) that will enable it to deliver “high performance, compact, energy efficient appliances” based on Sun Fire X2200 M2 and Sun Fire X4100 M2 servers to its global customer base.

Under the agreement, Zeus will sell certain Sun appliances fully integrated with its application delivery solution, Zeus Extensible Traffic Manager. The agreement is supported by a Sun OEM Services agreement which enables gives Zeus’ customers access to hardware support with a choice of response times depending on their specific business needs. ”This new collaboration in our ongoing relationship with Sun gives Zeus’ customers and partners an excellent combination of market leading technologies that deliver strong business value,” says Paul Brennan, chairman and CEO of Zeus Technology. “Most importantly, it extends Zeus? global reach so that we can provide integrated appliances to customers worldwide.”  ZXTM 3000 LB appliance is based on a Sun Fire X2200 M2 server. It includes Zeus’ ZXTM Load Balancer software and is designed for organizations who need a powerful, high-performance load balancing solution.

The ZXTM 3000 and ZXTM 8000 appliances, which are designed for sophisticated application delivery requirements, are based on Sun Fire X2200 M2 and Sun Fire X4100 M2 servers.

These appliances include Zeus’ ZXTM 5.0 Application Delivery software, and offer a wide range of traffic management capabilities at two different performance/price points. A cluster of 2 ZXTM 8000 appliances can deliver over 5 Gbits of application traffic, and throughput scales linearly as further nodes are added to the cluster.

Earlier this year, Zeus made a couple of reseller announcements, including computer solutions provider CPU Sale reselling Zeus Extensible Traffic Manager, media and technology solutions provider IT-Unlimited reselling ZXTM, ZXTM Virtual Appliance and ZXTM Global Load Balancer.
