November 6, 2003 — (WEB HOST INDUSTRY REVIEW) — Zeus Technology (zeus.com), a Web server software developer, released this week a new package of software and migration services to help Tru64, SGI IRIX and SCO UnixWare users to migrate from their iPlanet/SunONE Web server software to Zeus Web Server.

Sun Microsystems dropped support for Tru64, SGI IRIX and SCO UnixWare in September 2002. This left users the choice between rewriting their applications to work with alternative Web servers and re-licensing third-party applications, or changing their hardware to a platform supported by Sun Microsystems, the company said.

“Users who have applications using NSAPI on these platforms face huge migration costs,” said John Paterson, CEO of Zeus Technology. “This package will reduce a six month re-implementation to a two week migration, and users can keep both their existing hardware and third-party applications.”

The package that Zeus is offering consists of a bundle of Zeus Web Server licenses and dedicated migration support, for an average cost of $80,000 (£50,000).

According to the company, Zeus Web Server is the only enterprise-grade Web server that supports both NSAPI and ISAPI.

Netcraft’s November Web server survey found that market shares of both the SunOne and Zeus platforms had decreased.
