October 29, 2001 — (WEB HOST INDUSTRY REVIEW) — Zeus Technology Limited (zeus.com), has announced the launch
r
of Zeus Web Server Version 4.0. Zeus Web Server Version 4.0, allows twice as
r
many people to access a Web site at the same time, and over a continued
r
period, compared with competitive products. This is because Version 4.0 can
r
handle more simultaneous connections from the Internet, and responds to each
r
individual connection much faster than competitors. This allows the number
r
of hardware servers to be halved.
r
r
The company says Version 4.0 rapidly delivers dynamic content such as PHP,
r
45% faster than the competition. Web servers are traditionally optimized to
r
deliver large volumes of traffic out from the server to the Internet.
r
r
The advent of Web services will require Web servers to handle huge volumes
r
of inbound traffic. Zeus Web Server Version 4.0 has been optimized for
r
traffic traveling in both directions, making it the only Web server designed
r
for the next generation of the Internet.
r
r
Adam Twiss, CEO of Zeus Technology says, “Given the current economic
r
climate, it is more important than ever to extract the maximum return on
r
investment in hardware. Zeus Technology has recognized the need for
r
scalable, high-performance software which significantly reduces companies’
r
overheads.” Zeus Web Server Version 4.0 underpins business-critical
r
solutions for companies such as Cable and Wireless, Design Net, Energis,
r
NTL, Tiscali, and Telus.
r
r
Zeus is targetting the trends to more personal, dynamic content generation
r
technologies such as CGI, FastCGI, PHP, and Java Servlets. Zeus Web Server
r
Version 4.0 supports developers who choose these dynamic content
r
technologies and uses Zeus’ new FastCGI/PHP interface. Java performance is
r
also enhanced with the support of AJPv13 protocol and new native interfaces
r
for Tomcat and Jserv for further enhanced stability and performance.
r
r
Zeus Web Server Version 4.0 will be available from 23rd Oct. 2001. For a
r
free 30 day evaluation see zeus.com/downloads/.
