Zeus Highlights Results of VMware vSphereT 4 Test

(WEB HOST INDUSTRY REVIEW) — Internet infrastructure solutions provider Zeus Technology (www.zeus.com) announced on Wednesday the results of a performance test on VMware vSphereT 4.

In the test, Zeus Virtual Appliance greatly outperformed the Zeus Traffic Manager software software when running it directly on standard hardware.

In fact, the Zeus software on VMware vSphereT 4 was found to be 15 to 20 percent more effective in some tests, while achieving at least 85 to 90 percent in every test case.

The tests considered network-limited activities such as requests-per-second, bandwidth and caching performance, and CPU-limited activities such as Secure Socket Layer performance. Compared to VMware ESX 3.5, VMware vSphereT 4 was on average 25 percent faster in all network tests.

“We have recently undertaken some rigorous testing on VMware vSphereT 4 and have achieved outstanding results,” says David Day, CTO of Zeus Technology. “These tests demonstrate the Zeus Virtual Appliance software on VMware vSphereT 4, can deliver a much higher performance than is required by the vast majority of websites, even during peak periods. The analysis provides further evidence that using Zeus in a Virtualized environment to handle load-balancing and application traffic management is achievable without the need to compromise on performance.”

The performance figures were obtained using Zeus software running on a Dell PowerEdge 2950 server equipped with an Intel Quad-core Xeon E5450 processor.

On its website, Zeus offers a downloadable white paper on the Zeus Virtual Appliance software gained on VMware vSphereT 4 that includes all the performance figures from the tests.

Earlier this year, the company launched a new ZXTM Development License and a ZXTM Plugin for the Eclipse Integrated Development Environment, which lets users develop, deploy, and debug Java applications on the Zeus platform.
