Zeus Extends TakingITGlobal Support

August 18, 2006 — (WEB HOST INDUSTRY REVIEW) — Traffic management software provider Zeus Technology (zeus.com) announced on Wednesday it has extended its support for global online youth community TakingITGlobal (takingitglobal.org). As part of its pro bono relationship, Zeus will provide TakingITGlobal with additional technology to help the organization manage increased Web traffic and load balancing requirements.

Headquartered in Toronto, Canada, and with offices in the US and abroad, TIG is a non-profit online community that provides young people with inspiration, information and an opportunity to improve their local and global communities. Launched in 2000, TIG now has 5 million users and receives an average of 1.5 million hits per day.

Supporting TIG since 2004, Zeus provides TIG with a flexible, manageable application traffic management solution to scale up its services and allow room for future growth. By deploying Zeus Extensible Traffic Manager and Zeus Web Server, TIG can manage incoming application traffic more effectively. The software also enables TIG to protect against potentially malicious user activity by limiting the number of requests any unique IP address could make.

“Zeus has allowed us to dramatically improve the performance and reliability of the TakingITGlobal Web site, effectively managing three times as much traffic without any extra burden,” says Michael Furdyk, director of technology at TakingITGlobal. “The ability to effectively anticipate and manage Web site and application performance, track usage, and allocate traffic in real-time has removed so many of the headaches we used to have.”
