The Yankee Group’s survey finds that 36 to 60 percent of small and medium-sized businesses with Internet access have a Web site, leaving a potential market of at least 40 percent. The report said this promise was even greater because hosting providers could also sell additional services to the 36 to 60 percent of the market that need to overhaul or enhance their Web sites.

The survey also found that more than 20 percent acknowledged the need to integrate internal systems with their Web sites. And more than 25 percent said that in the next 12 months, they would migrate from static, marketing-oriented Web sites to dynamic, database-driven ones.
