Verio Attracts Resellers with Free Month of VPS Hosting: Companies looking to boost revenues are finding Verio's Free VPS promotion the right fit for getting started as Hosting Reseller.

August 28, 2001 -- (WEB HOST INDUSTRY REVIEW) -- In its

continuing quest to increase profitability and diversify

its business model which is largely based on ad revenues,

Yahoo! Inc. (yahoo.com)

will introduce today two Web hosting services offering

advanced site building and storage features, for a monthly fee.

The new services will be offered on GeoCities

(geocities.com),

the popular Web site-building service

that acquired by Yahoo 1999. Although GeoCities has

enjoyed popularity as a place to host amateur Web

sites at no cost, Yahoo says the new features will

enable them to build more polished,

professional-looking sites.

One of the services, called GeoCities Pro, will

provide a personalized Web address, five email

accounts, 25 megabytes of storage as well as 10 gigs

of data transfer capacity, for a monthly fee of $8.95,

plus a one-time $15 setup fee.

The other service, dubbed GeoCities Webmaster, will

offer more advanced features and additional storage

capacity, for $11.95 a month and the $15 setup fee.

Yahoo said it is offering the new services in response

to customer feedback. Unlike the existing free sites,

the new GeoCities sites will not be supported by

advertising.
