March 12, 2002 — (WEB HOST INDUSTRY REVIEW) — Yahoo! Inc. (yahoo.com) announced that it will increase the cost of its Geocities Web hosting service for customers who want enhanced features, as part of efforts to monazite more of its free services.

Last year, the company began adding fees to Geocities, a service that lets people set up personal Websites–once paid for by advertisements.

The new fee structures introduced Monday include a Geocities Plus service, featuring extra storage and bandwidth to help host larger files like photos, for $4.95 per month and a one-time set-up fee of $10.

Offering more advance publishing tools for experienced Web site builders and small businesses, Yahoo has also introduced new Geocities Advantage service.
