August 17, 2005 — (WEB HOST INDUSTRY REVIEW) — XO Communications (xo.com) and NEXL Network Systems (nexl.com) announced on Wednesday that they had partnered to introduce a new line of managed hosting services.
According to a multi-year agreement, XO and NEXL will co-market and sell each other’s services through XO’s direct and indirect sales channels, in addition to NEXL’s direct sales force. NEXL will provide managed services for XO managed hosting customers and XO will provide data center infrastructure and network services to NEXL customers.
The companies say they will offer the managed hosting services to businesses that want to outsource the hosting and management of their businesses applications. Customers will be hosted in XO data centers, which are directly connected to the XO’s national OC-192 IP network. NEXL will design, implement and manage the solutions, delivering managed application, security, and storage services.
“By creating this alliance with NEXL Network Systems, XO can continue to offer businesses the latest in outsourced managed hosting solutions, from design and implementation to the day-to-day management of their applications and equipment,” says Barbara Branaman, vice president and general manager of XO Communications’ hosting business unit. “NEXL’s leading managed offerings complement XO’s data center and networking expertise, together allowing us to provide customers a single source solution for outsourcing their mission- critical applications.”
