May 17, 2002 — (WEB HOST INDUSTRY REVIEW) — XO Communications (XO.com) said today in a filing with the Securities and Exchange Commission that it had dismissed Arthur Andersen LLP as its independent auditors and hired Ernst & Young LLP to serve as its new auditors for the year ending December 31 2002.

The Virginia-based telecommunications firm said it dismissed the company in part because the Andersen office that served the company is being acquired, and therefore would not have a significant presence in the northern Virginia/District of Columbia area. “There were no disagreements between XO and Arthur Andersen on any matter of accounting principles or practices,” the filing said.

XO said the change is effective immediately.

XO is the second communications firm in two days to dismiss Andersen. Yesterday, managed Web hosting firm Digex dismissed the company as its independent public accountants on the advice of its board of directors.
