April 4, 2003 — (WEB HOST INDUSTRY REVIEW) — WebmasterSolutions (webmastersolutions.com), a provider
r

of performance testing and monitoring services for e-business, recently
r

announced the general availability of AppMonitor 2.1, the second generation
r

of the company’s flagship application monitoring service.
r

r

New features include an upgraded control panel, user definable maintenance windows, full-page
r

downloads of all images and objects of each page, and rich HTML/Flash
r

consolidated reporting. AppMonitor 2.1 also offers users the ability to
r

export performance data to enterprise reporting applications using XML.
r

r

AppMonitor 2.1 is a consultative, outsourced service that provides
r

end-to-end transaction monitoring of Web applications from outside the
r

firewall. Based on the defined user transactions, such as order fulfillment,
r

stock purchase and catalog procurement, WebmasterSolutions creates test
r

scripts to continuously challenge the performance and availability of
r

e-business functions. These test scripts can be executed as often as every
r

five minutes from one of WebmasterSolutions 15 globally distributed
r

monitoring agents. If potential performance problems or errors are detected,
r

instant alerts are executed, via pager or phone, and performance reports are
r

delivered daily via email.
r

r

“AppMonitor is used to provide 24/7 functionality testing and performance
r

monitoring of all components of an e-commerce site, including Web servers,
r

network connectivity, applications, and databases,” said Tim Drees, Chief
r

Project Architect, WebmasterSolutions. “Understanding that the performance
r

and availability of web applications directly affects the success of
r

specific business functions, such as sales, marketing and e-commerce
r

initiatives, our new XML Data Access API provides customers with the ability
r

to access and integrate data generated by AppMonitor into their corporate
r

reporting processes.”
