WebhostingDay Registers 2,500 Attendees

Taken at WebhostingDay 2007, not only is WebhosingDay the world's biggest conference of its kind, but it is also likely the only one with roller coasters.

(WEB HOST INDUSTRY REVIEW) — The world’s largest web hosting conference, WebhostingDay 2009 (www.webhostingday.com) has registered more than 2,500 visitors from 21 nations to attend the event held in Germany from March 18 to 20.

According to event organizer intergenia (www.intergenia.de), the fifth annual WebhostingDay has surpassed all prior attendance records, meeting the attendee limit for the event location — amusement park Phantasialand in Bruehl near Cologne — for the first time. This marks a roughly 150 percent increase from last year.

There also may be more than 50 companies contributing to WebhostingDay with talks and fair booths in 2009, compared to last year’s 40, which included many well-known and internationally operating enterprises such as Microsoft, Intel, AMD, Parallels, Interxion, HP and Fujitsu Siemens Computers.

Despite the global financial crisis, intergenia president Thomas Strohe said, WebhostingDay has fared well. “The reasons are probably that WebhostingDay, due to its numerous partner companies as well as the great professional quality of its visitors, forms an optimal platform to meet the top players of the industry,” Strohe said in a statement. “The who’s who of the European hosting sector is going to visit WebhostingDay or exhibit there.” For instance, in 2008, more than 50 percent of visitors came from the CEO/CTO level.

In the mornings, WebhostingDay starts with the “main.FORUM,” where industry professionals address topics affecting the web hosting business. Presenters include Allen Clark from Microsoft, Shannon Poulin from Intel, Serguei Belloussov from Parallels and Jochen Polster from AMD.

The “hosting.SESSIONs” will be held in the afternoons, where industry experts discuss news and trends in the hosting and Internet space.

On the second day of the event, the CloudCamp “un-conference” and networking event will be held parallel to WebhostingDay, helping early adopters of cloud computing techniques come together in order to exchange about experiences, challenges and solutions.

The WHIR will be providing live coverage and commentary of WebhostingDay, similar to this year’s Parallels and Microsoft Hosting Summits.
