(WEB HOST INDUSTRY REVIEW) — Taking place this week at the Phantasialand theme park near Cologne, Germany, WebhostingDay (www.webhostingday.de), known as the largest web hosting event in the world, reports that there are more than 3,500 visitors have registered to attend — a 40 percent increase over last year’s event.
According to organizers, the number of exhibitors and media partners has also increased. In 2009 there were 50 partner companies showcasing innovations at the hosting fair and presentations, this number has grown to 70 in 2010, presenting a comprehensive overview of current trends and developments in the field of web hosting. Some of the participating companies include Microsoft, Parallels, Aggretech, HP, InterNetX, AMD, Fujitsu, Intel and Deutsche Telekom.
Taking place from March 17 to 19, WebhostingDay is organized by intergenia AG (www.intergenia.de), a leading supplier of professional web hosting and server solutions in Europe.
“The fact that even more attendees have registered for the 2010 event clearly attests that WebhostingDay has become a compulsory event for the sector,” intergenia chief executive officer and WebhostingDay organizer Thomas Strohe said in a statement. “Being the only networking and innovation forum in Europe specialized on web hosting topics, we offer a unique opportunity to the attendees to meet just the right contacts for their business. By now it is actually the world’s largest event of its kind and we bring the most important executives of major web hosting companies to Germany.”
High-level executives and experts from renowned hosting and telecommunication companies will be speaking at the “main.FORUM”, which takes place on two of the three event days. On March 17, John Fruehe from AMD, Serguei Beloussov from Parallels, John Zanni from Microsoft and many others will present keynotes. And on March 18, Raejeanne Skillern from Intel, Rafael Laguna from Open-Xchange and Andres Jordan from Deutsche Telekom are amongst the speakers who will deliver presentations about the latest developments in the hosting sector.
One of the major topics this year will, again, be Cloud Computing, and the risks and rewards it poses. But also new hardware for hosters will be introduced at WebhostingDay. For instance, HP is presenting its ProLiant SL line of lightweight rail and tray servers, designed for customers with scale out business models, enabling customers to reduce costs, improve facility efficiency and dramatically accelerate time to market.
The online registration for WebhostingDay 2010 closed on March 12, but there is still the chance to buy tickets onsite during the event at €349 for a regular ticket, or €749 net for a VIP ticket. The entrance fee cover the three day event including catering and social events.
