Webhostgear Introduces Cpanel Script

September 17, 2004 — (WEB HOST INDUSTRY REVIEW) — Webhostgear.com (webhostgear.com), a Web hosting tutorial and resource portal, announced on Thursday that it is offering a free FTP backup script for servers running on the cPanel (cpanel.net) automation system.

According to the company, the script can replace the default remote FTP backup feature on cPanel systems. For the script to function properly, the Cpanel second hard drive backup feature must be enabled. The FTP backup script does not interfere with cPanel’s daily backup feature. It can also be scheduled separately from it.

“We grew frustrated by the problems with cPanel’s built in remote backup system, so I decided to write a custom script to do what I wanted,” says Steven Leggett, owner of WebHostGear.com. “Now the remote FTP backup can be scheduled whenever you like and you can also specify which local folder, remote server and remote folder to backup to. In our case we had one central remote backup server which all our others production servers sent data backups to every day. With our custom script the backup server can have a folder for each production server, keeping things organized.”
