February 11, 2005 — (WEB HOST INDUSTRY REVIEW) — 110 Media Group (110mediagroup.com) announced on Thursday that it has signed on WalkerTek Internet Services to design and implement changes to the infrastructure of its recently acquired Web1000 (web1000.com) free hosting service.

The infrastructure overhaul is set for several phases, including the move of original equipment to Walkertek’s high bandwidth facility in New Jersey, the migration of the hosted sites to newer hardware, and reprogramming of the platform on which the web1000.com system operates.

The company says the project will improve the performance and uptime for the approximately 450,000 customers using the free hosting service and create a scalable platform that will be able to accommodate anticipated traffic increases.

“Once the overhaul is complete, newer hardware and larger bandwidth pipelines will allow the customer to experience a much higher level of service and consistent uptime,” says Ray Barton, CEO of 110 Media Group. “The current infrastructure limits not only the technical operations, but the potential financial returns to customers and the company.”

The company said the system upgrade could result in periodic service outages.
