November 1, 2004 — (WEB HOST INDUSTRY REVIEW) — According to Netcraft’s (netcraft.com) November Web server survey, Apache lost and Microsoft gained shares of the Web server market. Apache dropped from 67.92 to 67.77 percent market share, while Microsoft went from 21.09 to 21.25 percent market share. Both platforms managed to add to its total number of users, the report said.

SunOne gained ground, going from 3.04 to 3.14 percent and Zeus lost ground, dropping slightly from 1.35 to 1.32 percent market share.

Netcraft’s monthly Web server survey measures Web server software usage on all Internet connected computers. The November 2004 survey received responses from 56,115,015 sites. According to Netcraft, the Internet gained 726,549 sites in October and is on pace to be the Internet’s second strongest year for growth, behind only 2000.
