July 27, 2004 — (WEB HOST INDUSTRY REVIEW) — Linux distributor Red Hat (redhat.com) announced on Tuesday that it has expanded its partnership program to include channels for hosting and resellers.

Among the company’s new partners are Web hosting providers EV1Servers (ev1servers.net), The Planet (theplanet.com) and Rackspace Managed Hosting (rackspace.com). Red Hat said the partnerships give customers another flexible option for accessing Red Hat Enterprise Linux.

EV1Servers, The Planet and Rackspace are the first hosting providers to join the Red Hat Partner Community, a network of hundreds of technology companies established to combine open source and traditional technologies into enterprise computing.

According to a recent study by research and analysis firm Netcraft (netcraft.com), Red Hat is the leading Linux distribution on the Internet, holding a 49.8 percent share of the market.
