(WEB HOST INDUSTRY REVIEW) — Inc. magazine (www.inc.com) announced on Wednesday the results of its third annual Inc. 5000 (www.inc.com/inc5000), a ranking of the nation’s fastest-growing private companies.
IT services had the most companies on 2009 Inc. 5000 list with 658 companies, which includes several hosting providers.
Among those hosting providers are Host Gator (www.hostgator.com) at #239, Secure-24 (www.secure-24.com) at #352, Atlantic Metro Communications (www.atlanticmetro.net) and Hibernia Atlantic (www.hiberniaatlantic.com) tied at #500, Layered Technologies (www.layeredtech.com) at #622, ViaWest (www.viawest.net) at #1,074, HostDime (www.hostdime.com) at #1100, Go Daddy (www.godaddy.com) at #1,241, Infinity Network Solutions (www.infinitynetwork.com) at #1,479, Host.Net (www.host.net) at 1,367, and Hosted Solutions (www.hostedsolutions.com) at #1,613.
Additionally, on September 8th, data center operator and dedciated hosting provider Steadfast Networks (www.steadfast.net) announced it ranked #630 on the Inc. 5000 list.
The Inc. 5000 is ranked according to percentage revenue growth from 2005 through 2008.
Qualifying companies must have been founded and generating revenue by the first week of 2005, must be US-based, privately held, for profit, and independent as of December 31, 2008, and minimum revenues of $200,000 in 2005 and $2 million in 2008.
According to the press release, the companies included in the Inc. 5000 are responsible for creating more than 1 million jobs since their founding in 2007, making the list one of the best examples of the impact private, fast-growing companies can have on the economy.
