(WEB HOST INDUSTRY REVIEW) — Several IT companies, including some major Web hosting and cloud providers, have found their names included among the 2010 edition of the Inc. 5,000 (http://www.inc.com).
The annual listing from Inc magazine ranks the top 5,000 fastest-growing private companies in the United States.
Web hosting and cloud providers Media Temple came in 1,098th place with a 274 percent growth, earning $28.5 million in revenue in 2009.
Other providers included Liquid Web in 1,241th place, ViaWest in 1,274th place, Steadfast Networks in 1,359th, The Go Daddy Group in 1,788th place, GoGrid in 1,900th place, Layered Technologies in 2,111th, RagingWire Enterprise Solutions in 2,408th, Connectria in 2,641th place, The Planet in 3,749th place, and Infinity Network Solutions in 4,033th place.
Additionally, data center operators and colocation firms Colo4Dallas and DataPipe came in 964th and 2,539th positions, respectively.

In order to be considered for the Inc. 5,000 list, companies must have been founded and generating revenue by the first week of 2006 and demonstrate exceptional growth over three-year period.
Additionally, the company had to be US-based, privately held, for profit, and independent as of December 31, 2009.
The Inc. 5000 is an extension of the Inc. 500, which The WHIR reported on last week.
Hosting providers SingleHop and SoftLayer Technologies made the Inc. 500, as well as many other IT firms.
