(WEB HOST INDUSTRY REVIEW) — The Web hosting industry wasted no time in introducing sales and promotions in the week following the Labour Day weekend. DedicatedNOW is offering discounts on its dedicated servers, 34SP.com a free month of shared hosting, and GlobalSign a discount on Code Signing Digital Certificates for non-incorporated developers. Hivelocity has also renewed its “Server Stud” ad campaign that offers upgrades on its dedicated servers. LCN.com and ResellerClub are also continuing their September promotions.

DedicatedNOW Kicks Off Fall Dedicated Server Specials
Managed hosting provider DedicatedNOW (www.dedicatednow.com) has kicked off its Fall specials, which includes discounts on its Intel Atom, Xeon X3430, Core2Duo E8400, Core i5 760 and Core i7 920 servers. DedicatedNOW’s special lineup comes with the choice of either cPanel or Plesk, and bandwidth upgrades at no extra charge, by using the coupon code “FREECPANEL”.
34SP.com Offers Free Month of Web Hosting
UK-based Web hosting provider 34SP.com (www.34sp.com) has announced a special “Back to School”’ promotion for the month of September – which is not limited to students, but to individuals and businesses of all sorts. The promotion, which commemorates 34SP.com’s 10-year anniversary, offers a free first month of hosting on the company’s “Professional” hosting account.
GlobalSign Promotion Helps Individual Developers Secure Code and Applications
GlobalSign’s (www.globalsign.com) is offering its Code Signing Digital Certificates for non-incorporated individuals for as little as $99 for a limited time. These certificates are used to authenticate the publisher of software, effectively wrapping software in a virtual “shrink-wrap.” This enables individual developers not associated with a large organization to protect their brand identity, and reduce download abandonment due to un-trusted warning messages because of unsigned or self-signed code.
Also, contrary to other providers that require developers to purchase separate certificates for each type of platform, a single GlobalSign certificate can be used to sign multiple types of code. The certificate discount is in effect until the end of September 2010, giving individual developers discounted pricing on one to two-year validation terms.
Hivelocity “Server Stud” Ad Campaign Causes Stir
Dedicated server provider Hivelocity Hosting (www.hivelocity.net) has renewed its racy “Server Stud” ad campaign, launched two years ago, which compels users to “enhance” their servers, making them “bigger, stronger and longer lasting” – not unlike the claims from male enhancement ads. The parody ads offer an upgrade that doubles dedicated server RAM and harddrive space as well as an additional 10TB for as little as $15.
ResellerClub Announces .IN Domains for $1.49
Announced last month, Web host and domain registrar ResellerClub (www.resellerclub.com) is continuing its offer of .IN and .CO.IN domains for $1.49 – a discount nearly 90 percent – until the end of September.
LCN.com Offers 50 Percent Discount on Top Web Hosting Packages
Also announced last month, UK Web hosting company LCN.com (www.lcn.com) is offering a 50-percent-off discount on its top-end hosting packages, including its Premium and Unlimited packages, giving customers savings of as much as £60 or $90 for signing on for a one year term. LCN.com’s Unlimited hosting package provides customers with unlimited web space, bandwidth, mailboxes, and spam protection. The Premium hosting package offers 5GB of Web space and bandwidth, PHP and PERL support, as well as phpMyadmin to help customers manage their databases.
