Web hosting company SherWeb announced on Tuesday it has doubled the commissions in its affiliate marketing program.

Affiliate programs are a great way for hosting companies to generate new business through customer referrals, and proves that word-of-mouth  can be one of the strongest marketing tactics.

By doubling its commissions, SherWeb is adding an even greater incentive for affiliate partners to refer SherWeb’s hosted solutions to their customers, which tend to be larger companies.

With the commission increase, SherWeb affiliates are now paid 200 percent of the first month’s value of each sale for every new referral they make.

Since launching the program in July 2011, SherWeb said it has received an “unexpected high number of requests among IT consultants looking to join as an affiliate.

Web hosting provider Hivelocity recently launched its own  affiliate program, which offers partners 10 percent monthly and recurring commissions for the entire lifespan of their referral`s billing cycle.

Affiliates already successfully promote SherWeb’s suite of hosted solutions through coupon sites, review sites, blogs and IT-related websites.

“We want to create the best affiliate program possible for our partners,” said Simon Langlois, SherWeb’s affiliate program manager. “It’s important that we pay our affiliates in a fair and equitable way that’s proportional to the effort they put in. We feel that our commission model does just that.”

SherWeb’s affiliate program allows consultants, customers and other technology-related professionals to earn substantial income by referring their customers to SherWeb’s hosting services, including Hosted Exchange 2010, SharePoint Hosting 2010, Linux VPS hosting and SkyNox Online Backup.

Those individuals interested in becoming an affiliate can visit SherWeb’s affiliate program page.

Last April, SherWeb acquired hosted email provider DNAmail, which it continues to maintain as a brand today.
