(WEB HOST INDUSTRY REVIEW) — Distributed denial of service protection services provider Prolexic Technologies announced on Wednesday that web hosting provider Yola is using its DDoS mitigation service.

Prolexic’s services protects Yola’s corporate website and servers where the sites of more than six million web hosting customers reside.

As a business that is 100 percent dependent on the Internet and providing uninterrupted availability for its customers’ websites, protection from DDoS attacks was critical for Yola.

Yola VP of engineering said that the company was looking for a partner that could maintain service uptime and mitigate all types of DDoS attacks. After reviewing many options, Yola selected Prolexic.

The rise in DDoS attacks affects the entire Internet community as these attacks can lead to site unavailability and even financial loss.

In report release in July, Prolexic warned organizations in Asia, Europe and North America to be cautious as the magnitude of DDoS threats is likely to escalate over the next six to eight months.

Many hosting providers, ISPs and content delivery networks offer DDoS mitigation as an add on option, however, these basic services are often overwhelmed by large, complex attacks, says Prolexic.

The company’s DDoS mitigation services protects Yola and its six million customer websites via its proprietary analysis and mitigation tools, as well as the expertise of 24-hour real-time monitoring by technicians based in the company’s Security Operations Center.

Since partnering with Prolexic, Prolexic’s Security Operations Center has mitigated many DDOS attacks against Yola that have had peak traffic levels reaching 6.2 Gbps.

“We are happy to be able to offer this service to Yola’s users and to further demonstrate our commitment to providing world-class website building and hosting services,” said Trevor Harries-Jones, president at Yola.
