Web hosting provider Windstream Hosted Solutions announced on Thursday it has opened its new data center in Little Rock, Arkansas, which is designed to meet the growing demand for cloud-based and dedicated managed services.
The move comes a couple of weeks after Windstream began offering a disaster recovery as a service solution, which leverages replication and cloud technologies in a fully hosted and managed disaster recovery solution.
The 30,000-square-foot data center is designed with 2N power distribution and parallel UPS, designed to ensure that companies are always able to access their servers, applications and data.
Windstream has more than a dozen data centers located in or near major metropolitan areas from coast-to-coast, including Boston, Charlotte, Philadelphia, and Phoenix. Earlier this year, Windstream passed the SSAE 16, SOC 1 Type II audit on all its data centers
“As more companies realize the benefits of cloud-based services, the demand for data centers that provide enhanced offerings and greater security has skyrocketed,” said Kip Turco, Windstream Hosted Solutions’ senior vice president of data center operations. “We have gone to great lengths to ensure that the services supplied to our business customers through the Little Rock data center are reliable, giving us the ability to provide the most secure and solid service available.”
The new Windstream data center provides circuit redundancies that ensure no single point of failure. In addition, all core network equipment within the data center is fully redundant as well.
The Little Rock data center features a 24-hour staff at onsite Network Operations Center, 2N power distribution, with exceptionally high levels of resiliency, redundant HVAC facilities, with 900 tons of cooling capacity, monitoring/control system that continually checks the health and operation of all critical functionalities, sophisticated fire detection and suppression systems, a full suite of public, private, and hybrid cloud services, a cloud-based disaster recovery as a service.
Windstream Hosted Solutions, which recently acquired hosting company PAETEC, provides a range of hosting services including data storage, cloud computing, network and security, OS management, middleware service management, DBA services and disaster recovery.
