(WEB HOST INDUSTRY REVIEW) — Shared, reseller and VPS web hosting provider Webhosting.uk.com (www.webhosting.uk.com) announced this week that it had introduced a new product it calls “cloud hosting on shared servers,” which it says will complement its existing dedicated and private cloud hosting servers.

The company says its cloud server hosting environment makes use of a combination of servers and SAN storage in a cluster that ensures availability in the face of excessive load or a server crash.

In the case of a server crash or a storage failure, says Webhosting.uk.com, services would automatically migrate to live servers.

It isn’t entirely clear from the press release how its “cloud hosting on shared servers” product differs from the sort of product generally described as “shared hosting.” The website does say that the systems are built on VMware and Hyper-V technology, and are backed by a 100% uptime guarantee.

According to the company, customers using the shared cloud hosting product can upgrade to the dedicated cloud servers product if they need more capacity, control and customization.

The cloud hosting on shared servers is available on Windows and Linux operating systems, with introductory level plans starting at £1 GBP (seemingly a short-term promotional price).

”This uniquely designed and expertly supported Cloud server hosting platform is an ideal solution for customers who are looking for high availability solutions at affordable prices”, states James Anderson, sales manager from Webhosting UK Com, quoted in the press release. “We received a tremendous response to the cloud servers we launched in January this year. Simultaneously, there were requests for smaller cloud plans and we decided to roll out cloud hosting on shared servers.”

A complete list of pricing details is available on the company’s website.
