(WEB HOST INDUSTRY REVIEW) — Web hosting provider Webair (www.webair.com) announced on Wednesday that it is the official network and connectivity provider of the Quiksilver Pro tour event. Held in Long Beach, NY from September 1 to 15, 2011, the event “brings the best in extreme sports and surfing” and features surfing lessons, competitions and parties.

According to the press release, Webair will facilitate dark fiber, networking, connectivity, wifi and live streaming video of the event. Webair will also provide audio visual and satellite connectivity, as well as internet kiosks for attendees.

Webair is headquartered in New York, and opened its flagship data center in Garden City, New York, earlier this year.

The surf cam is provided by Webair and surfing production company NYSEA (www.nysea.com) and will show a 24/7 stream of wave conditions and event performances.

In addition, Webair will sponsor surfer Will Skudin in the event. Skudin is a big-wave surfer and vice president of Skudin Surf, a surfing school in New York. Skudin co-founded Surf for All, a non-profit organization that helps individuals with special needs.

“Working on the Quiksilver event has been incredible,” Michael C. Orza, president of Webair said in a statement. “Sponsoring Will Skudins’ efforts to achieve greatness was a no-brainer for Webair. In the time I have known him, his energy, generosity and charitable efforts have amazed me. We are thrilled to be sponsoring him and be a part of this epic event.”

“I’m stoked and honored to have the opportunity to surf professionally for Webair, one of the biggest hosting companies out there,” Skudin stated. “With my first year competing on the Big Wave World Tour, it helps tremendously to have their backing in this new chapter of my career. Now I can focus 100 percent on training and developing my big wave game. Someone once told me, ‘You get what you put in.’ Now thanks to Webair – I’m all in.”
