(WEB HOST INDUSTRY REVIEW) — Web hosting provider Webair (www.webair.com) announced on Wednesday that it had partnered with EFT Energy (www.eft-energy.com) to better manage its energy consumption using EFT’s software.

Webair will use EFT’s Energy Manager AutoStart software to assess and monitor its energy consumption in an effort to lower its overall power consumption. The software provides live and historical data for all data center power usage, including HVAC and UPS systems, PDUs, IT load and generators.

The company says the data will enable it to focus on inefficiencies in its power usage, as well as spot peak usage times it can work to accommodate.

The agreement with EFT comes shortly after the launch of Webair’s “we care” initiative, which the company says is intended to support the environment and the community.

“Webair is thrilled to be the first US data center to partner with EFT Energy,” says Webair CEO Michael Christopher Orza, quoted in the press release. “After seeing the environmental value that energy assessment has brought to European companies and recognizing EFT’s proven experience with web technology sectors in Ireland and the UK, we knew that it would be a perfect fit for us. We strive for conservation and sustainment of our earth’s resources, and know our clients will appreciate our continual efforts to better our community, society and earth.”

The company says it is dedicated to environmentally efficient hosting solutions. Its services include a “green power” option on dedicated servers that allows customers to reduce power when CPUs are not in use.
