Web Host TurnKey Internet to Build NY Data Center

(WEB HOST INDUSTRY REVIEW) — Web hosting provider TurnKey Internet (www.turnkeyinternet.net) announced on Tuesday it has purchased a former federal government building in Colonie, New York as the site for a new data center, as it expands operations to meet growing demand.

The moer than 10,000-square-foot data center will securely house TurnKey Internet’s infrastructure, increasing its capacity by 12,000 servers. The multi-million dollar facility is set to go live in the third quarter of 2010.

The increased capacity will expand the company’s operations in New York and will bring new business to the region.

TurnKey Internet chose the location because of its access to qualified staff, reliable green-friendly power sources and high-speed fiber optic Internet connectivity.

“We are very excited to continue to expand here in New York,” says Adam Wills, president and CEO of TurnKey Internet. “New York has been a great location, providing access to the best qualified staff, reliable green-friendly power sources and high-speed fiber optic Internet connectivity. It has provided us with the ideal centralized geographic location to meet the demands of our clients across the globe.”

Currently being upgraded to increase power and cooling capacity, the new building will protect TurnKey Internet’s infrastructure behind 1-foot-thick concrete walls, built to federal government specifications.

The data center will feature redundant, green-friendly electrical systems, multiple high-capacity fiber optic Internet connections, video surveillance, and biometric security protocols.

It will also include fully-managed colocation suites for businesses looking for secure, reliable, enterprise-class connectivity for their own servers and equipment.

With the acquisition of the new building and multiple new hires in the past 60 days, TurnKey Internet says it is starting 2010 with record growth.
