(WEB HOST INDUSTRY REVIEW) – Web hosting provider SingleHop announced on Friday that co-founder and CEO Zak Boca was chosen as an Emerging Entrepreneur by the Kentucky Entrepreneur Hall of Fame.

Based in Lexington, Kentucky, tech incubator Awesome Inc is behind the Hall of Fame and specializes in the growth of high-tech, creative and entrepreneurial companies. Awesome created the Kentucky Hall of Fame in 2010 to celebrate entrepreneurial success in the state.

“It’s truly an honor and a humbling experience to be recognized by a group whose focus hits so close to home,” Zak Boca, chief executive officer, SingleHop said in a statement.

This news comes about a month after SingleHop launched the latest version of its proprietary client management platform, LEAP.

According to the press release, Boca was chosen based on the criteria of product and service innovation, overall contribution in the industry as well as financial success and potential.

Boca was born and raised in Bowling Green, KY, and attended Western Kentucky University. After college, Boca moved to Chicago to start shared web hosting company midPhase with current SingleHop co-founder Dan Ushman. Boca and Ushman sold midPhase in 2005, which at that point grew to more than 160,000 customers and $16 million in revenue.

After the acquisition, Boca and Ushman started SingleHop in October 2006.

According to the press release, SingleHop expects its 2011 revenue to reach $24 million while its number of employees has increased almost 75 percent.

“I’m extremely grateful for my success and thrilled to see the entrepreneurial spirit is alive and well in my home state of Kentucky,” Boca stated.

Other emerging entrepreneurs in the Kentucky Hall of Fame include Wayne Yaeger, Webalytics, Vidya Ravichandran, GlowTouch, Heather Howell, Rooibee Red Tea, and Rob May of Backupify.

In August 2011, SingleHop ranked 25 on the 2011 Inc. 5000 list.
