(WEB HOST INDUSTRY REVIEW) — Zak Boca, president and chief Executive Officer of Chicago-based Web host SingleHop (www.singlehop.com), has been ranked among the most promising and influential entrepreneurs in Chicago, according to Crain’s Chicago Business.

Boca, at age 27, has been included in the influential magazine’s annual top 40 Under 40 list, which highlights some of the most influential, successful, and promising individuals in Chicago’s business community under 40 years old.

Boca was included in this year’s list as an entrepreneur with a successful track record of building strong businesses in the Web and technology sector, with perhaps none more illustrative of this than SingleHop, which has grown from a startup in 2006 to become an major industry player with more than $15 million annual revenue.

Having quit college to focus on his first Web hosting business, midPhase Services (www.midphase.com), Boca cannot write computer code, nor does he have specialized financial training. Despite this, he has been able to build a strong reputation in the Web hosting industry, especially among fellow entrepreneurs.

“Zak is amazing,” said SingleHop customer Tenko Nikolov, head of Web host SiteGround (www.siteground.com) and server security firm 1H.com (www.1h.com). “He is so efficient, and at the same time he is easy to communicate and work with. The way SingleHop does business is influenced by Zak’s unique personality, and that makes the company the best partner choice I’ve made so far.”

Frank Stiff, the president of the boutique investment bank, Cheval Capital (www.chevalcap.com), which helped Boca launch his previous companies, told Crain’s Chicago Business that Boca is the kind of entrepreneur that “doesn’t have to be able to write code. He focuses on the big picture. For him, formal training would probably just get in the way.”
