(WEB HOST INDUSTRY REVIEW) — Managed hosting provider ServInt (www.servint.net) announced on Wednesday that it has completed the build-out of its new data center facility in Reston, Virginia, and is now turning up customers within the facility.

ServInt, based in Northern Virginia, says the new Reston data center was built to accommodate the company’s strong recent growth. It adds half a megawatt of capacity to the company’s current North American footprint, and has additional capacity available on-site for future expansion.

The announcement does not specify the size of the new data center, but that may be more a function of the company defining its capacity by the megawatt. It does give some specifics about the setup, including the fact that it is located in a data center complex. In an earlier announcement, the company said it had leased the data center space at a CoreSite facility.

The company calls the new data center a “true private facility,” but built within a larger complex that provides a the company with a few important functions and specifications, including SAS 70 Type II certification, multiple public utility feeds, redundant power configurations, multiple emergency generators, manned security and a substantial cooling infrastructure.

“ServInt has been growing rapidly over the past year,” said CTO Matt Loschert, quoted in the press release. “This new private data center – built to our exacting specifications within one of the most advanced facilities on the east coast – will allow us to easily accommodate that growth. The fact that our new location, like our DC facility, has access to some of the highest-quality connectivity in the country is an additional plus.”

The new Reston data center is ServInt’s fourth location, adding to data centers in Los Angeles, Washington, DC and McLean, Virginia.

Late last year, ServInt doubled the size of its managed services team, another solid indicator of the growth the company is experiencing.
