The partnership is through Savvis Alliances Program
(WEB HOST INDUSTRY REVIEW) — Web hosting provider Savvis (www.savvis.com) announced on Wednesday that it Virgin Media Business (www.virginmediabusiness.co.uk) will offer its UK customers Savvis’ enterprise cloud computing solution.
This news comes a few weeks after Savvis announced several data center openings and expansions. The WHIR discussed these plans with vice president of colocation management Drew Leonard on Wednesday.
According to Wednesday’s announcement, Virgin Media Business will use Savvis Symphony Virtual Private Data Center combined with Virgin’s nationwide fiber-optic network.
“We are truly delighted that Virgin Media Business chose Savvis’ enterprise-class solutions for its client base,” Neil Cresswell, EMEA managing director at Savvis said in a statement. “We are excited to extend our reach to new markets with Virgin Media Business. Our joint success will hopefully allow Savvis to establish similar long-term partnerships in Europe.”
The agreement is through Savvis’ global partner program, Savvis Alliances. Through the program, partners can access a portal with marketing, sales and technical materials.
“Having compared all the major cloud vendors in the market, Savvis was the right choice to deliver the capabilities and support that our customers need,” Mark Heraghty, managing director of Virgin Media Business said in a statement. “This launch marks our first step on a longer road as it’s part of a cloud computing market strategy that’s got all the right ingredients. We’re backing this up with the largest nationwide fibre-optic network in the UK, and Virgin Media’s approach to delivering technology that fits customers’ real needs in a simple way. We believe it will be a welcome tonic for businesses striving to be freed from the constraints placed on them by their IT infrastructure.”
