Cloud and web hosting provider Rackspace announced on Thursday it has acquired SharePoint consulting and training services provider SharePoint911. The terms of the acquisition were not disclosed in the press release.
The acquisition brings to Rackspace a complementary service add-on for its SharePoint hosting service, providing Rackspace SharePoint customers with supporting resources to help them design and deploy their enterprise-class SharePoint hosting environment.
Acquisitions like this continue to reflect Rackspace’s hands-on approach to delivering and supporting hosting services, providing customers with a comprehensive set of tools in regards to support, maintenance and troubleshooting.
Founded in 2004, SharePoint911 has been a well-known consulting firm in the SharePoint community. The team is comprised of six Microsoft MVPs, including the authors of SharePoint books and instructors of SharePoint training courses.

Rackspace first began offering managed SharePoint services in 2008, providing customers with a managed SharePoint environment. The company’s managed SharePoint services offers customers a choice between SharePoint Foundation and Microsoft SharePoint Server, the support of a dedicated team of SharePoint Certified Professionals to design, implement and manage a custom solution, Microsoft Hosting Expertise, Rackspace’s “fanatical Support” with 100 percent uptime and 24-hour hardware replacement guarantee, and optional services include advanced SharePoint monitoring, backup and restore and anti-virus protection.
