Web Host Plinkd Launches Services

June 16, 2006 — (WEB HOST INDUSTRY REVIEW) — Web hosting provider Plinkd (plinkd.com) announced on Friday it has launched its services, offering a hosting plan that includes PHP5 and Ruby on Rails, and more importantly, its unique community discount scheme. Plinkd’s community discount scheme enables users to invite people and build a community, entitling them to discounts based on the number of members.

“We’ve put together a way that users can get rewarded for doing what they’ll probably do anyway – that’s recommend us to others,” says Plinkd CEO Gary Reid. “But, what’s more important is that our system means not only do they get rewarded but their friend does too, plus the friend’s friend and so on.”

Plinkd’s Access Point enables users to invite others to join Plinkd hosting services by giving them a unique community code. When the referred person activates the code, they will instantly be added to the user’s community. The entire community will then receive ‘bulk buying discount. The more people in a community, the greater the discount members are offered.

Large communities have already started to form around business networking sites LinkedIn and OpenBC, whose users are currently receiving 50 percent discount off of Plinkd’s fees. The company also ensures that users will get a fair deal when they purchase hosting services on multiple domains.
