(WEB HOST INDUSTRY REVIEW) — Canadian-based hosting provider Peer 1 Hosting (www.peer1.com) announced on Thursday that it had signed a multi-year colocation agreement with consulting and technology outsourcing firm Capgemini Canada Inc.
According to the deal, Capgemini will take roughly one full Performance Optimized Data Center at the company’s recently-launched flagship facility in northeast Toronto – a POD is the design unit the company uses to build out the facility. The term of the deal is five years, and includes options for renewal and expansion of the space used.
In its announcement, Peer 1 describes Capgemini as a key customer win for the company, and for the new facility.
“Just a few short months since the opening of our new Toronto data center, we have been able to secure a key anchor client,” said Fabio Banducci, president and CEO of Peer 1 Hosting, quoted in the press release. “We are proud to work with a company like Capgemini to enhance their own computing power and provide their clients with another solution to their hosting needs.”
The company launched the new 40,000 square-foot facility in May of this year, after roughly a year of construction that was chronicled in a series of video features appearing on WHIR TV.
Earlier this week Peer 1 announced that it had introduced Hosted Exchange services in the UK.
