Attendees follow performers' lead in playing their drums at Peer 1's data center launch party.
(WEB HOST INDUSTRY REVIEW) — Colocation and managed hosting provider Peer 1 (www.peer1.com) celebrated the opening of its new flagship data center in Toronto, Canada last night with a party, welcoming 200 guests – including existing and prospective customers, employees and a few media representatives – to the Berkeley Church on Queen Street East.
Peer 1 announced the opening of the first phase of the $40 million, 40,000 square-foot facility Wednesday, saying pre-sales would begin in February, and customers can begin occupying the space in March.
In a briefing delivered to the press before the party began, Peer 1 president and CEO Fabio Banducci said the new facility would be the first from which the company would offer its full spectrum of colocation, managed hosting and self-managed dedicated hosting from a single facility.
At the same time, it will mark the introduction of the managed and dedicated hosting services to the Canadian market for the Canadian company, which had previously offered those services out of facilities outside Canada, due to the space limitations of its existing facilities.
The WHIR has covered the construction of this particular facility in stages, through a series of videos appearing on WHIR tv. Click here to view the most recent WHIR tv video of PEER 1′s Toronto data center construction.
Wednesday’s launch party kicked off with a drumming performance in which the crowd was invited to participate on drums of its own, and attendees ate, drank and mingled into the evening.
The event helped to illustrate another of Banducci’s points of emphasis, which was the company’s efforts to be known as a top-level service organization, comparable to the leading businesses in any industry – pointing to the company’s recently developed tagline, “Ping & People.”
Banducci conducted a very interesting video interview with the WHIR Wednesday night, so keep an eye on WHIR tv for more from Peer 1.
