(WEB HOST INDUSTRY REVIEW) — Telecommunications and hosting provider PAETEC Holding (www.paetec.com) announced on Wednesday it has officially opened its fifth data center, in Milwaukee, Wisconsin.
PAETEC has opened several data centers across the US recently. In August, the company opened a 92,700 square-foot cloud computing data center in Andover, Massachusetts, 24 miles north of Boston. A month later in September it announced the opening of its fourth facility, in Houston.
The data center in Milwaukee will provide colocation to enterprise businesses throughout the Midwestern US including Chicago, Madison, St.Louis and the Twin Cities.
“We looked at many sites in the Midwest, but ultimately determined that this location in Milwaukee would best support the needs of our customers,” Jeff Howe, president of PAETEC’s central region said in a statement. “This new data center extends our unmatched support of customers’ ever-changing and more complex needs with regards to data storage, security, and the shift towards cloud computing.”
Utilizing approximately 3,000 square feet of PAETEC’s office space in downtown Milwaukee, the new data center has connections to 1,200 amps of incoming power and is expected to start with 120 tons of cooling capacity.
PAETEC says the facility will house full cabinets and half cabinets to serve its customers various needs.
The company plans to open a sixth data center in Pheonix in 2011.
