(WEB HOST INDUSTRY REVIEW) — Cloud storage software startup ParaScale (www.parascale.com) announced on Thursday that managed hosting provider OC3 Networks (www.oc3networks.com) has selected ParaScale software as its cloud storage solution.

Carpathia recently revealed that its own cloud storage offering is powered by ParaScale’s cloud storage solution.

OC3 Networks decided to select ParaScale as its cloud storage solution because it delivers a complete solution including access, a full storage repository and integration and manageability in the context of its existing systems, says the company.

By combining ParaScale software and standard servers, managed service providers can build different types of storage clouds and offer a range of storage cloud services.

ParaScale says its cloud solutions can be built using almost any kind of Linux server, and a single cloud can consist of different server models, including repurposed servers.

Using ParaScale’s software offers an advantage for businesses during the recession, as they can re-use their existing servers.

“Looking into Q4 and Q1 many service providers are planning to deploy cloud storage,” says Sajai Krishnan, CEO of ParaScale. “Customers are going to have several choices and service providers have to ask themselves how they can differentiate and thrive against the at-scale mass-market players like Amazon and Google. The highly capable technical and sales teams at OC3 are looking at cloud storage offerings that can help their existing and new customers delay expensive storage capex. Potential new services under consideration include hosted VM repositories, high performance multi-media distribution platforms, private secure hosted clouds amongst others. This innovative team is looking to bring practical new cloud storage services to their customers and fly above the me-too storage cloud.”
