(WEB HOST INDUSTRY REVIEW) — Web hosting provider Nexcess (www.nexcess.net) announced Wednesday it has adopted Kpslice (www.ksplice.com) Uptrack rebootless technology.

Ksplice’s Uptrack will be integrated in Nexcess’s managed dedicated servers and magento offerings with no extra charge.

Uptrack is a subscription service that applies all of the security updates released by the Linux vendor without rebooting the server, according to Ksplice’s website.

“At Nexcess we’ve always focused on superior hosting, and Ksplice was an obvious choice for delivering superior service to our customers,” said chief executive officer of Nexcess Chris Wells. “Now our customers can obtain top-notch security without compromising availability – which is especially important during the holiday season.”

Prior to Uptrack, administrators had to schedule downtime to apply kernal updates leaving servers vulnerable to attack. With the rebootless function, Uptrack optimizes security and uptime.

“Ksplice Uptrack delivers levels of security and availability that far exceed what’s generally available,” Waseem Daher, Ksplice’s chief operating officer said. “We’re pleased to work with Nexcess to serve their Linux hosting customers better.”

Since its launch in February, Uptrack has been adopted by many cloud computing providers and web hosts, most recently including Spanish web host Evalice, WestHost, Midphase and Eleven2.
