Nexcess specializes in Magento e-commerce hosting, the admin panel of which is seen here
(WEB HOST INDUSTRY REVIEW) –Web hosting provider Nexcess (www.nexcess.net) announced on Tuesday that it has added Global Crossing (www.globalcrossing.com) to its 3,200 square foot Dearborn, Michigan data center.
According to the press release, Nexcess web hosting clients have access to Global Crossing immediately.
Nexcess says the addition will improve connectivity speeds to users around the world, as well as those behind any provider that purchases connectivity from Global Crossing’s backbone network.
Nexcess expanded its ecommerce hosting line in the UK earlier this year. The company provides its CDN access with its Magento (www.magentocommerce.com) hosting, according to its website.
“Making Global Crossing a part of our data center’s network should do a lot of great things to improve performance and reliability for all of our hosting clients,” Chris Wells, president and CEO of Nexcess said in a statement. “Connecting directly to more providers means shorter routes, and shorter routes mean faster web sites.”
Nexcess adds Global Crossing to a pre-existing network with BGPv4 connectivity to Level 3, Savvis and Cogent, according to the press release.
Level 3 announced its intent to acquire Global Crossing in April in an all-stock deal valued at $3 billion.
Nexcess says its Southfield, Michigan, data center will also have Global Crossing bandwidth. This facility will open in the fourth quarter of 2011.
In June, Nexcess announced that it is certified under the US-EU Safe Harbor Framework.
