(WEB HOST INDUSTRY REVIEW) – Managed hosting provider NeoSpire (www.neospire.net) announced on Tuesday that it has successfully completed its SAS 70 Type II audit.
A week ago data center operator Phoenix NAP announced that it also successfully completed the SAS 70 Type II certification.
NeoSpire says it completed this assessment “exception-free.”
“Very, very few hosted service providers are able to claim an exception-free SAS-70 Type II report. NeoSpire has achieved this distinction multiple times,” Sean Bruton, senior director of client services for NeoSpire said in a statement. “In an era when a strong data protection is essential, NeoSpire customers can be assured of both a physical environment and an operational culture that is among the very best in the industry.”
According to the press release, NeoSpire’s SAS 70 covered physical security of the facilities, environmental controls, network security, server security, backup and restore, problem management and change management. A Type II report “includes detailed testing of the organization’s controls over a minimum six month period.”
In October 2010, chief operating officer at NeoSpire Jim Ciampaglio discussed open source hosting in a Q&A with the WHIR.
