(WEB HOST INDUSTRY REVIEW) – Web hosting provider NaviSite (www.navisite.com) announced on Monday that it has launched its new managed services for IBM’s Lotus Connections 3.0. The service is available on cloud-based or dedicated infrastructure. The company will showcase its portfolio of Lotus applications at IBM Lotusphere 2011 in Orlando, Florida from January 30 to February 3.

According to the press release, Lotus Connections is a social software enabling “business professionals to be more innovative and productive by helping them build networks of subject matter experts.” It fosters collaboration and the exchange of ideas between communities of employees, partners and customers to facilitate business growth.

NaviSite says its managed service for Lotus Connections provides enterprises on-demand access to its solution that includes on-boarding, application management, licensing and lifecycle management services.

“We are using Lotus Connections to better collaborate and communicate with our reseller community,” stated Mark Taylor, vice president of the IBM group for Arrow Enterprise Computing Solutions, a business segment of Arrow Electronics, Inc. “We selected NaviSite because they have years of experience delivering IBM hosted services. Their deep expertise, state-of-the-art data centers, service-level guarantees and built-in disaster recovery features allow us to lower our risk and maximize our investment in Lotus Connections.”

NaviSite says organizations can save up to 47 percent over in-house solutions by deploying its managed service for Lotus with “predictable monthly fees without upfront capital expenditures.” The company says end users have access to the full functionality of the current IBM Lotus solutions while experiencing improved security and reliability.

“NaviSite has proven expertise delivering high-value managed IBM messaging and collaboration services,” Tony Rorai, director of product management at NaviSite said in a statement. “We are excited to offer IBM Lotus Connections 3.0 in an on-demand fashion to organizations that are embracing social media to transform internal communications and foster deeper collaboration with partners and customers.”

With its cloud-enabled SAS 70 Type II data centers, NaviSite provides a secure infrastructure for its managed services for Lotus.

NaviSite recently sold its Dallas colocation business to Cologix Dalls for $12.75 million in cash.
