(WEB HOST INDUSTRY REVIEW) — Web hosting provider NaviSite (www.navisite.com) announced on Thursday that it is providing managed infrastructure services for PetsUnited (www.petsunited.com) to run its pet-related e-retailer websites.
Last month, the web host partnered with global content delivery services provider EdgeCast Networks to develop a new content delivery portfolio on EdgeCast’s CDN platform.
PetsUnited owns a line of world-class online brands, including www.dog.com and www.horse.com, that sell pet and outdoor supplies.
The pet product e-tailer was looking for a managed hosting provider that could “deliver stability, flexibility and end-to-end support” for its IT infrastructure, according to the press release.
The managed hosting solution required many important infrastructure components including virtualized and dedicated servers while using its existing hardware.
NaviSite worked closely with PetsUnited to customize a hybrid virtualized and dedicated hosting solution along with a suite of managed services for its entire IT footprint.
The web host will provide a virtualization solution for PetsUnited’s web application and storage areas to ensure scalability, as well as provide a dedicated server solution for PetsUnited’s associated database and networking tiers.
