(WEB HOST INDUSTRY REVIEW) –- Web hosting provider NationalNet (www.nationalnet.com) announced on Tuesday it is in the process of attaining Statement on Standards for Attestation Engagements No. 16 certification.

INetU Managed Hosting announced earlier this year it achieved compliance with SSAE 16, five months in advance.

Formally issued in April 2010, SSAE 16 will replace its predecessor, SAS 70, by June 15 as the authoritative guidance for reporting on service organizations.

According to the SSAE 16 website, the certification was drafted with the purpose of updating the US service organization reporting standard so that it mirrors and complies with the new international service organization reporting standard, ISAE 3402.

NationalNet says it will be among the first group of data centers to attain this certification in 2011.

The company has begun the SSAE 16 certification process with Atlanta based CPA firm  Windham Brannon.

According to the American Institute of CPAs, SSAE 16 “addresses examination engagements undertaken by a service auditor to report on controls at organizations that provide services to user entities when those controls are likely to be relevant to user entities’ internal control.”

NationalNet says that the SSAE 16 attestation brings it one step toward ensure that its customers understand the company’s “focus on providing the best services and controls needed to maintain a reliable data center.”

“Deep down in our hearts, we know that we do everything necessary to guarantee our customers’ satisfaction every single day,” says Tony Morgan, CEO of NationalNet. “Based on what we’re hearing within the data center industry, we’ve decided to begin the SSAE 16 attestation process. My team and I have spent the first quarter of this year in meetings with Windham Brannon committing what NationalNet does every day to paper.”

NationalNet says in addition to completing the SSAE 16 attestation, it is also working towards completing many other goals within 2011.
