(WEB HOST INDUSTRY REVIEW) — Web hosting provider Myhosting.com announced on Friday that it has introduced a new affiliate rewards program, offering customers the opportunity to earn money by referring friends, family or colleagues.
An affiliate program is not an unusual development in the hosting business, where companies prize organic growth. Adding a bit of financial incentive to that mix can make for a reliable means of acquiring new business at a relatively low cost in comparison to other forms of advertising, particularly for a hosting company with a large audience of mass-market type consumer customers.
While the company already offers referral programs for professional affiliate marketers, through ShareASale and Commission Junction, it says the new program is designed specifically for customers.
Myhosting.com has an extensive consumer hosting business, and is one of several properties of the Toronto-based company SoftCom, whose properties (along with SoftCom) include web-based email platform Mail2Web; SoftCom Business Services, which focuses on providing premium hosting to larger SME customers; Turkish service provider Daha.net; and US-based VPS and dedicated hosting provider SLHost.
Myhosting.com says it was already seeing a lot of referral business from its customers. The company feels that setting up an affiliate program around its customers will only emphasize and improve on that trend.
“Our customers are already referring their friends, family and colleagues, it only makes sense to reward them for that,” says Jeremy Lee Adams, product manager at myhosting.com. “We appreciate our customers business and the fact that they’re willing to recommend us means they appreciate ours. More than simply rewarding these customers, we want to promote them as one of the team”
The company says the affiliate program was designed to make it quick and easy, as well as financially rewarding, for customers to refer new customers of its web hosting, business email and VPS services.
All qualified referrals provide a minimum of $75 US commission. Rates increase with the volume of sales made by the affiliate in the course of a month.
