(WEB HOST INDUSTRY REVIEW) — New Delaware-based Web host MyHost Corp (www.myho.st) has just expanded its name server grid to Europe, giving it the Domain Name System infrastructure to increase delivery speeds in both the US and Europe.
DNS is a hierarchical naming system for any resource connected to the Internet or a private network. While not obvious to everyone using online devices, DNS importantly serves as the Internet’s phone book, translating human-friendly hostnames (such as www.thewhir.com) into a numerical IP address (such as 209.212.149.80). Current DNS technology can help hasten, direct and balance Web traffic.
Launched at the end of June, MyHost provides a complete set of shared hosting, reseller hosting and dedicated server hosting packages. According to MyHost’s Tuesday announcement, it has added professional DNS coverage for European-based IP addresses in response to the international business opportunities and its growing body of foreign customers.
“DNS coverage of both USA and EU based IP addresses will certainly help customers migrate their already existing websites and domain names to MyHost servers, while new customers will be able to start utilizing their recently registered domain names without delay,” MyHost chief executive officer and chairman of the board Liviu Damian said in a statement. Damian called it “an extremely important addition to the organization’s professional line of services and features.”
Unresponsive DNS servers result in websites and email becoming unavailable, which can lead to loss of online presence, productivity and revenue.
Enhanced DNS zone coverage can boost propagation speed for new name resolution requirements. Having alternative DNS resources also benefits hosting customers in terms of security and availability.
