October 20, 2004 — (WEB HOST INDUSTRY REVIEW) — Web hosting provider Modwest (modwest.com) announced on Tuesday that it has completed its migration to a new modular hardware architecture based on blade servers and storage area network technology.

The company said the new architecture enhances availability and improves performance, scalability and ease of management.

“For our load-balanced cluster of Web hosting servers, the SAN and blade solution was a perfect fit from a staffing and equipment scalability perspective, ” says Allen Lee, vice president of technology and co-founder of Modwest.

The migration from older standalone servers to the new architecture began in March 2004. It was completed with “virtually no service interruptions,” the company said.
